Business Mathematics is designed to show applications of mathematics in the workplace and to refine job-related math skills. This class focuses on arithmetic operations, problem-solving techniques, measurement skills, algebra, geometry, and data handling.

Statistics have become an important part of everyday life. We are confronted by it in newspapers and magazines, on television and in general conversations. We encounter it when we discuss the cost of living, unemployment, medical breakthroughs, weather predictions, sports, politics and the state lottery. Although we are not always aware of it, each of us is an informal statistician. We are constantly gathering, organizing and analyzing information and using this data to make judgments and decisions that will affect our actions.

This is Conceptual Physics.  Physics is a branch of science which examines the matter and  energy, and how they interact or relate with each other. It is the basis of other science branches. Understanding it will help one understand other fields of science.  Typically, Physics involves a lot of mathematics and equations.  In Conceptual Physics, we will work to make sense of these abstract ideas by relating them to actual events that we have either experienced or representing them with models that we can conceptualize.  We will explore aspects of Physics through unit studies which will include labs, activities, discussions, and practice worksheets.

STEM is the application of the four fields of study (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) in order to solve problems.  As such, this course is structured as  project-based.  Students will be given problems to solve using the engineering design process (ask, plan, create, evaluate, improve) as well as math and science concepts relevant to the problems.

This is an introductory course in the study of Chemistry.  Chemistry is the branch of science that deals with the composition, structure, properties, and reactions of matter at the microscopic level.  We will explore aspects of chemistry through unit studies which will include labs, activities, discussions, and assignments to help students understand what chemistry is about and how it works.  Participation is important for students to do well in this course.

Earth science includes any form of science dealing with Earth (i.e. geology, oceanography, meteorology).  It also includes the study of Space as it helps us understand the cycles of and forces affecting Earth, and environmental issues due to human activities.  We will explore aspects of Earth science through unit studies involving labs, activities, discussions, and assignments.  Participation is important for students to do well in this course.
